It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!
Isla had the honor of “lighting” the big Christmas tree in the heart of Coronado during its annual holiday parade. It’s just one perk of being the Mayor’s niece! For photos of this event, click here and type in the password “tanaka” (you can also order prints, if you’re so inclined).
Visit from Tony & Carla
“Papa” Tony had a meeting in San Diego this month, so he and “Mimi” stopped by for a visit.
Two!
We had fun celebrating Isla’s 2nd birthday today with family and friends. The theme was “island,” as in Isla
She giggled when everyone sang happy birthday to her and clapped after wards. She also has been having a lot of fun saying all the colors, counting up to five, surprising us with new words (such as “armpit” and “goldfish”), and of course she loves to dance!
Easter 2011
We spent Easter Sunday with the Tanakas and Auntie Jo. We also spent some time with Karin’s brother, Roger, and his wife, Judy, who flew in from Chicago.
Christmas 2010
Instead of opening presents on Christmas Eve as we’ve done in the past, the Tanakas came over from Coronado to the Cocomoon in Chula Vista where we shared a meal and exchanged gifts. It was great being able to spread out and Isla was in toy heaven! We’re so lucky to be surrounded with loving family and friends both near and far. Merry Christmas!
Thanksgiving 2010
We hosted our first Thanksgiving at the Cocomoon! This gave Karin a break after doing the whole feast herself for approximately 38 years. Whew! This year we had help from our friend Jason, who is an excellent cook. The rest of the family pitched in by bringing some of the side dishes and pies. Yum!
