About Us

People have often asked us: Why Cocomoon? Once upon a time, when we scouted our first apartment together, Alika found herself alone in one of the empty bedrooms. She lay down on the berber carpet, closed her eyes, and asked herself what the name of the home was. A response came in the form of a vision of moon jellyfish swaying in a turquoise pool with the song “Copacabana” playing in the background. She interpreted it as “Coco” cabana, and related this to Mason’s upbeat spirit. You can’t say “coconut” with a serious, frowny face. The word doesn’t allow it. It demands a playful mood and so did our new apartment. But at the same time, the place called for the dreamy quiet beauty of silken moon jellies. Balancing the two spoke to our nature and also served as a reminder for living. There is a time for the meditative calm of the subconscious, the place of creation. There is also a time for manifesting those dreams into the physical world. And it’s more fun to do it with a little song, a little dance, swaying in time with the rhythm of each other. We decided that “Cocomoon” would forever be the name of our home, wherever that may be. It’s also engraved on our wedding rings.
We hope you visit our family site often. This is the place for updates on our beautiful daughter, Isla, our Boston terrier, Gecko, and other friends and family that enter The Cocomoon. Welcome!
Love,
Alika & Mason
